Tratzberg Castle
Distance to the hotel: 58 km
The imposing Tratzberg Castle is located between Jenbach and Schwaz on a 100 m high rocky ridge. The castle was first mentioned in the 13th century and served as a border fortress against Bavaria.
In the 16th century, the Fugger merchant family rebuilt Tratzberg Castle and it became the epitome of a Tyrolean castle. Since 1847, the castle has been owned by the Enzenberg family, who opened it up to tourists after restoration work in 1994. Visitors are offered classic guided tours of the Habsburg Hall, the Gothic Fuggerstuber and the King's Room, but also three-dimensional time travel tours with virtual reality glasses in eight languages, as well as knight's helmets and swords to touch and try on.
Children can discover the secrets of the castle on special fairytale tours and meet the emperor, the queen and Tratzi, the castle ghost.
